It's been 9 years now since the Kargil War, which started in may 1999. Almost near to a decade and the nation has long forgotten the heroes, who fought courageously against the infiltrators. The brave soldiers withstood every odd they faced, every challenge that enemy threw at them. A number of bright and young officer's laid down there life fighting heroically for the motherland.
However, the question that still haunts the families of the martyrs of the Kargil conflict. Was it really worth it? The loss of so many youngster's who solely fought for the pride of the nation, the parents who swallowed all the pain of their loss. The proud father who spoke if he had one more son he would have sacrificed him for the country too.
But do they really deserve what they got in the end, all the big speeches of the Politicians, a memorial who nobody cares to clean, a father's struggle to get the meagre compensation offered by the Govt. The biggest shame was the coffin scam that surfaced, would fill any normal person with a sense of revulsion. The Bofors gun scam another blow to the already degraded image of the Indian politicians.
Let's not make anymore mockery of the country these heroes fought for, let us give them a reason to be content that they died protecting those who care.

The only memory of the heroes of the Kargil War remains in the heart of those, who truely believe in what they laid there lives for...........
May your souls rest in peace.
(Wars don't solve anything, they just bring death and destruction)
